West Midlands NHS Innovation Competition 2010
Purpose
The aim of the awards is to identify and reward innovative individuals and teams within NHS Trusts and PCTs in the West Midlands region, and to promote innovations which have the potential to lead to improvements in healthcare for patients in the region and beyond.
The competition will also raise awareness of innovation in the NHS across the West Midlands.
Judging Process
Winners will be selected by a regional panel of judges, drawn from the NHS, industry and academia.
Awards Ceremony
The awards ceremony will take place at the Botanical Gardens, Edgbaston, Birmingham on the 25th November 2010.
Prizes
A prize fund of £10,000 will be shared between a number of winners and runners-up. Prizes will be paid to the employing Trust with the intention of them being ring-fenced for the development of the winning innovation.

How to Apply
Eligibility
The competition is open to ALL NHS employees in the West Midlands region. It is not limited to researchers.
Entry Guidelines
Please complete the online application form by clicking the link at the bottom of this page. When completing your entry, please take into account the judging criteria.
Judging Criteria
All applications will be judged on the following criteria. The innovation should:
- Have been developed as a result of an identified problem.
- Be able to be implemented realistically.
- Demonstrate impact within the organisation and benefit to healthcare.
- Demonstrate originality and inventiveness and should not violate any intellectual property rights.
- Be innovative rather than the local implementation or roll out of a national programme or the implementation of recognised best practice.
